DuoMente—pianist Meng Yuan and violinist Dan Qiao—is a bold and expressive chamber ensemble that blends heart and mind, emotion and intellect. Their name, from Duo (two) and Mente (mind/soul), reflects their deep musical connection and their mission to bring classical music to life in fresh, powerful, and accessible ways.

In 2025, DuoMente was named Artists in Residence at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Cincinnati. As part of the church’s Music with a Mission series, they present intimate concerts designed to feel like journeys—programs that invite care, comfort, and connection. Each performance brings together classical masterworks, contemporary voices, and music from diverse cultures. Freewill donations from the series benefit local, national, and international charities, making music both an artistic and a humanitarian offering.

Individually accomplished and deeply attuned as collaborators, Meng Yuan and Dan Qiao bring a wide range of musical experience to their partnership. Pianist Meng Yuan, a doctoral candidate at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, is recognized for her sensitivity and versatility across solo, chamber, and contemporary repertoire. Violinist Dan Qiao, also a doctoral candidate at CCM, has won numerous international prizes and performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician, earning recognition for the vivid expressivity of her artistry. Together, their performances balance intellectual depth with emotional immediacy, creating a dynamic dialogue that resonates with audiences.

This season, DuoMente is also undertaking Beethoven Immortal: A Sonata Marathon, a four-concert cycle of Beethoven’s complete violin and piano sonatas. This landmark project celebrates one of the greatest collaborations in chamber music history while embodying DuoMente’s artistic vision: to create performances that inspire, move, and build lasting connections with listeners.
